I spotted the Omega Speedmaster 326.30.40.50.02.001 in a store window yesterday for the princely sum of £2,800. That is actually priced about right for what it is, with box and papers, and I continued to stare for some time.
It ticks a lot of boxes for me; date window, 40mm, co-axial movement, deadly accurate, white (almost cream) face and aside from quite a high depth it feels like the long-term luxury watch for me.
Something stopped me, however, despite the constant bugging and persuasion from my son and wife to make the leap and so I left it and returned home.
And then I found the video below from Teddy-
I am now considering phoning the store, trying to haggle to just above £2,500 and paying for a watch that could tick almost every box for me. Something is still bugging me about the watch and for the life of me I cannot understand what exactly that is, but 80% of me really wants it. Loving watches is not easy…
